WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance (MBDS)
a. Initial vision: reduce morbidity caused by outbreak-prone priority diseases
b. Mission: strengthen national and sub-regional capabilities in infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response, especially for priority diseases, to rapidly and effectively control them
c. Goals : Reduce morbidity and mortality from communicable diseases, particularly amongst marginalized people living in the Mekong region, by developing an integrated approach to disease surveillance and response across borders and Establish partnerships with other existing cooperation mechanisms
At InSTEDD, we work with governments, universities, corporations, international health organizations, humanitarian NGOs and local communities around the world.
The Nuclear Threat Initiative is working to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. NTI is co-chaired by Sam Nunn and Ted Turner.
